Go fishing where few anglers have fished before
Estancia La Limay offers the perfect balance of rugged adventure, world-class fishing and logistical ease.
Our unique fishing program
Our unique location on the lower section of the Limay Medio gives our guests a very exclusive fishing experience. There are no public access points to the river inside or anywhere near our ranch, nor are there any easy access points off the river downstream from us.
Our guests also have the opportunity to fish the upper sections of the Limay Medio, below the Pichi Picun Leufu dam (about 20 minutes from our lodge).
The Limay Medio River is a large river and its structure varies in the many different channels, from riffles and deep pools in some areas to channels with faster runs and tail-outs in others. Bottom line… your guides will put you on the section of river fishing best for each day of your stay!
Our La Limay fishing guides work exclusively for us, and therefore must meet high standards in order to be part of our staff. All our native Argentine fishing guides are personable, speak English, and have grown up fishing the waters of the Limay River system.

Our boats, tackle and gear
We have all new custom-built drift boats as well as NRS rafts & catarafts in order to provide the perfect boat for the many different channels and water types encountered on the Limay Medio.
The fishing equipment we suggest are 6 and 7 weight rods with both floating and sinking lines. These rod weights are needed to handle the size, strength and aggressiveness of the trout here. Dry flies (both small and large patterns), nymphs and streamers are all very productive throughout the season.
We suggest guests bring their own rods as they usually feel more comfortable with their own equipment. If you’d prefer to use ours (including rods/reels, waders & boots, and the perfect fly patterns for every condition), your guide will have it ready for you.
